The Perfect Wedding Breakfast

1. “Yoghurt, fruit and a handful of oats,” says nutritionist Juliette Kellowe. “Oats are the perfect food for the slow release of energy, and the fruit and yoghurt contain water which is important if you want your skin to stay looking hydrated.”

2. “Muesli with nuts, seeds and fresh berries,” says Yvonne Bishop-Weston. “The last things you want on your wedding day are bloating and mood swings so you need a good breakfast with enough complex carbohydrates and protein to stabilise your blood sugar levels. For extra help, a cup of cammomile tea will help keep you calm and chilled.”

3. “Two poached eggs on wholemeal toast with a grilled tomato,” says Dr Marilyn Glenville PhD, “with a cup of peppermint of cammomile tea. This combination of a first class protein (egg) with an unrefined carbohydrate (wholemeal bread) will mean your blood sugar rises slowly and stays level for a good few hours, so you won’t feel lethargic, light headed or dizzy later on. It will help keep your mood even, too, on what can be a stressful day. The cammomile tea should also help take the edge off any last minute nerves.”

4. “A high-fibre breakfast cereal, with fruit,” says dietitian Jacqui Lowdon. ‘It’s going to be a long day and you’ll need to keep your energy levels up. This will help to maintain an ideal blood sugar. Fruit will act as a natural sweetener, provide a longer lasting source of carbohydrate, more fibre and extra nutrients - much better than adding sugar. Fluid’s important, too, so water or fruit juice is good. The most important thing of all though, is that you just eat something!”

5. "Porridge,” says dietitian Nathalie Jones, “because it’s low GI, giving you a slow release of energy right through the morning. It’s easy to not feel hungry when you’re nervous or excited but having porridge will prevent your blood sugar from dropping too low. Porridge won’t bloat you either so you can be sure you’ll look and also feel your best!"

Wedding

A wedding is the ceremony in which two people are united in marriage. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Most wedding ceremonies involve an exchange of wedding vows by the couple, presentation of a ring or rings, and a public proclamation of marriage by an authority figure or religious leader. Special wedding garments are often worn, and the ceremony is followed by a wedding reception. Music, poetry, prayer or readings from Scripture may also be incorporated in the ceremony.
